El Café de Axel's roasting is a one-person operation: Axel, who returned to Benidorm after years living in the UK, opened a small space where he roasts the coffee he serves himself, with no middlemen or industrial scale involved. There's no separate roasting room or team behind it — it's artisanal in the most literal sense, originally built for nothing more than his own café. But that closeness hasn't stayed behind his own counter: Axel also supplies his coffee to other spots in Benidorm, including Baldo, which makes this small home-scale roaster more than just a café with its own name — it's quietly part of the city's specialty coffee supply chain. That mix of tiny scale and real reach is what sets it apart: while others compete on volume or roasting tech, Axel does every step himself, start to finish, and his coffee still travels beyond his own bar.
